Aiken, SC, has a well-preserved Carolina bay within a park near downtown which is used as a nature conservatory. On October 10, 2012, an observation deck was opened.

According to an article in the local newspaper, "The new observation deck can be used by area schools and is ideal for science classes. Teachers were already bringing students to the bay and now there is a safe, accessible area for them to conduct class. The Carolina Bay is home to a variety of plants, birds, reptiles and insects." - Aiken Standard

The bay fits well int to standard baySouth archetype template, and has an alignment similar to numerous others in the city and surrounding area.

Google Streetview imagery is available along Price Avenue as it traverses the bay floor. You can see the imagery interactively with this LINK

The attached album has two static Streetview images taken eastward and westward, and the rim can be seen rising slightly in the distance in each. If you look across the floor to the south, there is a view of the rim as it rises up in the distance through the park. The location of the Streetview shots are identified by the placemarks in the KMZ file referenced above.

A uTube video filmed within the bay by Ian O'Briant is available HERE.
